I Should Not be Afraid of Death Father God Almighty, as I come before your presence, I do so with all kinds of fear and anxiety. Forgive me for my little faith. My head tells me that as your child, I should not be afraid of death because you have conquered death on the cross and is now victorious. You know the kind of mixed feelings I have which is very hard to describe. Even then, I am really frightened of the pains that I will have to bear as my body weakens; also the pains that come along with the medical procedures. Help me to trust in you and the doctors that you send for managing such physical pains as and when I encounter them. I really feel that my faith is far too inadequate. Help me Lord. I am also anxious of the burdensome and extra work that I will cause my family, relatives and friends. I earnestly pray not to become a source of trouble and inconvenience for those who love me. Sometimes the pain they bear is even greater than I may experience though of a different nature. I thank you God for their kindness, love and care. Please bless them and strengthen them as you bless me through their love and care. I am grateful for the words of your servant King David: “The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? I Have Not Done... Lord Jesus, you know how fearful I am when I think of the things that may happen to me before long. You know how I am afraid that I may not be able to complete all my unfinished tasks, especially for my loved ones. Most of all I feel frightened because I have not done the things I should have for you. Right now, I am too preoccupied with my state of health. I worry all the time because I am scared of the suffering ahead. There are too many decisions to make. Some of them are too complicated. Please God, lead me out of this fear. Thank you for your comforting words in the Psalms. You have reminded me to cast my cares on the Lord. You will sustain me and will never let the righteous fall. Please forgive me Lord of my sins so that I count in your eyes. Help me to hold on to your word. I especially ask that you remove my fear, worries and anxieties as I bring them to your feet. Teach me to depend on you day by day. Thank you my Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear, I will help you. Isaiah 41:13
Give Me Rest Father God, you know I am almost crippled by fear because I’m worried with what is going to happen to me, my family and most of all my life. I try to put up a brave front but my mask cannot hide my inner feelings. You know how I am afraid of what my future will be, if there is a future. As I come into your presence Lord, I seek your healing touch. I don’t need to try to look good when I feel rotten because you know every bit of me, better than myself. I can only trust you Lord. I know you love me and you will be with me whatever befalls me. Because I belong to your kingdom, I ask that your will be done. May your Holy Spirit come to fill me with faith and hope. In the process, I pray that my serious concerns in my fear-stricken heart will be taken away from me. Release me from the grip of anxiety. Give me rest. Help also my loved ones in the same way. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. Psalm 5:2
