About God, Jesus Christ, the Christian Faith & Resources

(Languages at bottom of page)

Q(1) Does God really exist?
My own personal experiences before & after my illness confirm the presence of the living God. I know, feel and believe that God Almighty knows everything. He is in control of everything, including an insignificant individual like me. And He loves me.

The time during medical treatment and recuperation was a blessing because I had lots of opportunity to communicate with God. Through pray, and by reading the Holy Bible which is God's inspired word, I talked and stayed close to God.

Also, God's Spirit in me testifies to His presence in my life. That is, my Creator, my Healer, my Guide and my Savior is constantly close to me. This is because I believe His word, that when we ask for God's forgiveness of our past wrongs and sins, through Jesus Christ, and accept Him as our Lord and Savior, His promise of eternal salvation becomes a reality in our lives.

I know I didn't do anything to deserve this crucial and important relationship with God, the source of all life. It is because of God's merciful and gracious provision of salvation through Jesus Christ, that I have benefited through faith.

Q(2) Who is Jesus Christ?
Jesus Christ is God, who came in the flesh of man for the sole purpose of dying for our sins and misdeeds, so that we (in fact anyone) need not bear the consequences of sins ourselves. Instead, I have eternal life because I have made good i.e. restored my link with God.

Christians believe that there is one God who is expressed in three persons. The three in one God, or the Trinity comprises God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit of God. A common analogy is water, that may be liquid, solid as in ice or vapour as in steam. To me, matters of the spirit is as real as matters of the physical natural world, and matters concerning my mind & thoughts, feelings and emotions. I understand spiritual things as objectively as I would for physical natural things. This is why Christians speak about our spirit, our body and our soul.

We believe that by opening our hearts and mind, and by faith through a clear choice i.e. decision to accept Jesus, our soul and our spirit are saved. Our body will finally be redeemed when Jesus comes again to earth in the last day. Like His first coming which was repeatedly prophesized long before He was born as God-man in Bethlehem, His second coming will take place just as He Himself had said. I look forward to that glorious day.

My prayer is that you too will receive Jesus into your heart and your life, for real spiritual joy and peace.

Q(3) Why am I (or a person I care about) having a dreadful disease? Did I Ior he/she) do something wrong to deserve it?
There are many reasons for falling ill and contracting diseases. God's gift to man through modern science and medical research explains the causes of many illnesses. We are still trying to understand more about many new diseases and about ourselves.

I do not believe there is always a direct link between any person's sickness and God. There may be indirect effects of one's sinful lifestyle and disobedience to God and the incidence of certain diseases. I believe there are physical or natural reasons, mental or emotional reasons and sometimes spiritual reasons for diseases. Check out this website for medical information on diseases. Q(4) Are my prayers heard & will they be answered? Where can I find assistance on more prayers and how to pray?
We know that when we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging Him as the Son of God and receiving Him as our Savior, our desires are made known to our Father God. Our Lord Jesus intercedes for us, i.e. prays on our behalf. We also know that God's will is best for us because He loves us.

We may not understand here and now the reasons why some prayers are answered, and others seemingly not. When we trust God, we are satisfied that nothing can be better; and that gives us spiritual, mental, emotional and physical rest and peace. We need to empty ourselves and our troubles before God, in order to receive His Spirit and His saving grace.

Q(5) Is there any connection between my spiritual beliefs, if I choose to follow Jesus Christ, and where I get medical and other treatments?
We believe that God has created us with good reasoning powers that have resulted in modern research and scientifically based medical knowledge. In faith, God works in ways often beyond our understanding, that will lead us to the right doctors and professionals. There are traditional or alternative treatments, e.g. based on herbal medicines, such as those known to different societies that are recorded in their own traditions. They may supplement modern approaches.

However, I would avoid treatments not based on properly studied or documented methods, particularly those that involve worship or sacrifice to dubious supernatural powers. We need to remember that we should worship only THE one and only living God, our Lord. Medifocus.com,Inc.

Q(6) Where can I find other services & products that are often needed for treatments and hospitalisation? for post surgery recuperation and rest, and for change in lifestyle?
Apart from your own doctor or hospital, there are many insitutions, organizations and NGOs like research and other societies, from which information on the characteristics of different types and various stages of different diseases can be obtained. Many are available on websites.

There are also numerous support groups for sharing experiences on treatments and for recuperation. They cover a wide range of topics, from types of treatment procedures, coping with side effects, foodstuff, methods of cooking, supplements to relieve different conditions, exercises, dressing tips, sourcing of vitamins, organic food & drink etc. Most of these are available on the web. (Try enlist the help of younger friends to surf the net.) It may be useful to find those near to your home.

There are also many websites on Christian prayer, such as prayer groups by individuals or by church groups.

From experience, one may face difficulties accessing or reaching the sources of help or information. But, the single most difficult obstacle is often oneself. Overcoming the rigidities of one's own attitude, especially in having to CHANGE from old habits and set WAYS of doing things is important. Conscious and deliberate decisions have to be made regarding one's lifestyle, eating habits, work etc because of changing health circumstances. I find that accepting change and trying to adapt are important.

But the crucial choice of following Jesus Christ and relating to Him is THE most significant breakaway from the past in order to grow spiritually and to make sense out of the emotional and physical turmoil of patients going through the traumas of any serious and dreaded sickness. For easy access to vitamins and supplements, try click on banners at the bottom of webpage "Disbelief and Shock" of this website.

Q(7) How do I cope with care givers and close family & friends who do not accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior as I do?
Our Lord Jesus had told His followers to make disciples of all peoples by sharing the good news of God's love. While we may be stressed and may feel discomfort due to illness, our testimony as God's children can be shown in many ways, e.g. by showing appreciation to those who take care of us; by displaying patience with family even when things don't go our way; by expressing thoughtfulness towards friends who try to help or who visit. We need to pray for family and friends that they too will accept Christ. We need to live our lives in a constant attitude of prayer, through our words, actions and daily living

Q(8) How do I manage my daily life after I get better and others go back to their own routine? How do I relate to God as a believer and follower of Christ as I get stronger? And what can I do to grow spiritually?
As one recovers from the traumas and inconveniences of hospitals and treatments, I believe it is important to learn to do daily personal chores that are within one's strength and energy to the extent possible. Clever planning and use of inexpensive aids will help. They include mobile phones, voice recorders for messages, storage of cooked meals, even simple paper and pencil etc.

One should try to move out of the "used to" mentality AND expect changes in ways of doing things. For example, one cannot expect to have every meal freshly cooked as before; or continue consuming exactly the same foodstuffs and drinks as before.

Seek and organize help by discussing with others how they may chip in on essential tasks that are beyond one's capability, but at THEIR convenience. Remember that caregivers also need a break and have their own lives to lead. Demanding too much of their time may rob you of valuable assistance when you really need them.

Joining support and special activity groups for people with similar illnesses, including exercise groups, is another way of finding moral support and help. When stronger, try help others by sharing your experiences and time.

Christians strongly believe that God is their strength, protector and helper in trouble. Daily reading of His word from the Bible is the best way to remind ourselves of His goodness and faithfulness, and of our commitment to follow Him. Constant prayer for others and for oneself is crucial in developing the Father-child relationship with God.

Try using a daily scripture reading guide or devotional. Though optional, such guides provide commentaries and insights of others, and on applications to daily living. Short prayers are often included. We can deepen our relationship with our Creator by reading other books and engaging in discussion with others. Attending classes at a local church or participating in small cell groups are ways for spiritual growth. It is crucial to worship together with other Christians regularly to give praise and thanks to Our Lord Jesus Christ who upholds us. A sense of Christian fellowship in the family of God's people always warms the heart.
